Poetry Recital for Emmanuel Frimpong (YPG President, North Darkuman)

Tik-tok tik tok, the clock resound
Hard to believe that time still abound
As though it was just yesterday
Still recall, like a year today

Mama called, but nowhere to be found
When cassava was cooked, ready to be pound
Then, breathing like an ass I reappear
With a sweaty face, and a ball like pear

Just yesterday, I started a journey
With friends alone, and shortly my honey
To live a life, worthy of commendation
In my Lord to whom I deliver my salutation

Lo, He has been faithful
With friends as Guilders, it's been so wonderful
To make my bed with you His saints
And colour moments we'll share all in paints

Happy Birthday, Prez!

A Day in the Life

What a sight to see, and a place to be
A city of colours, a gathering of flowers
A moment so radient and so magnificent
That the stars so settle, and captains unvessel
And everything so halt, for the sake of a maiden

As the thunder rattles, and the pot dazzles
The ox muzzles out the remains of Makanga
A bewildering succour from sweet palmie
And there beneath the pots with Kussafa retire
When all desire so halt, for the sake of a maiden

This is the day that all have sought to see
When grandmother Milawoe, in all her glamour
Meanders her way through thicket and mangroove
And defy the threats of the revered monsoon
Just to deliver her present of a crafted calabash

Indeed this is the day that all have waited for
To sing the only chorus of ancient Timbuktu
That echoed from Zanzibar to the great victoria
But with ears unheard, nor with minds conceived
Even till the days of Hola the great Bimbimbaba

'Happy Birthday my dear, Dzifanam Akosua Yvonne'

How much love?

In you is something; all powerful, all special, ever lasting
A masterpiece grafted with a treasure within
A thing have I seen, crafted within your personality
A part of you, inseparable, indivisible
Drawing me closer and closer and closer

Closely have I been trailing
How I loved to pick for my keep
But staring in my face is a sense of impossibility
Radiating the ever hopeless feeling of uncertainty
Oh, what a system; my heart aches

But deep within, my heart revealing

Is the all living word of hopefulness
The ever classical definition of true love
Captured in the unfettering chronicles of Corinthians
Ignoring the age old feeling; of doubt, fear, and anxiety

Love is patient; Love is kind
Ever faithful, ever yielding
These are the very words that cloud my sight
A vision of brilliance
Informed by respect, trust and understanding

Yes, no one knows but the Lord
How much love built within
Developed from a love for such a thing
That keeps me holding on
Till the dawn of life closes on

Je t’aime encore

IN MY HEAD, ALONE WITH MY THOUGHTS

© Madam Noire, 2012
Out of nothing my thoughts emerged
In the womb of my mother it all begun
But today they are all converged
In my head, alone with my thoughts

Secrecy, I have always abhorred
But as the sun rises and sets
And the moon glitter like gold
No one can ignore this moment
That has been in existence since time untold
In my head, alone with my thoughts

I wonder about the earth and her curvature
No, the entirety of Nature
The seaming moments of happiness
Contrastingly, climaxing in sadness
In my head, alone with my thoughts

Yesterday he was with me
Today, there is nowhere of him
What will be of me
Tomorrow if I am there with him
In my head, alone with my thoughts

Still remember the moments together
Combed the streets and pulled asunder
The nuts we bought and sipped together
And sat, hand in hand, in Ahanta
Oo! Jehovah, bless our thoughts

Hmm! What a world we live in
Far and gone the days of old
When the future was filled with impossibilities
And people, blessed with talents and abilities
To discover and build planes with magnitudes
Were restricted to counties, and their cold

© Barry Overstreet, 2013
In my head, alone with my thoughts
In the moments through my ponder
I have come to the realization
That, with imaginations free from limitations
Coupled with inclinations and Jehovah
We have always persevered
And even bigger is the future
In my head alone with my thoughts

Participating in a Web 2.0 Workshop

I was informed, through an online group of which I am a member (GINKS D-Group), that  there was going to be a workshop on how to use Web 2.0 tools in facilitating development. Immediately I followed up and realized that the workshop was being held on the premises of the organization I was working with (CSIR-INSTI). I continued with the required online registration, and confirmation was sent to me in less than a week time. The Web 2.0 workshop was jointly organized by the UNFAO, CTA, and CSIR-INSTI, and was expected to introduce participants to Web 2.0 tools (social media) that can empower them to promote activities in their fields of work, which were mostly in development agenda.

The workshop started on Monday, 15th April, 2013, and together, we managed to go through the introductory phases, where we had the opportunity to take a group photograph with the Director of CSIR-INSTI, and the facilitator of the workshop, Justin Chisenger, and expert in the field from UNFAO.
We also started with the social networking tool, Twitter, and managed to do a great work on that. Participants were asked to create Twitter accounts, and those who already had accounts assisted their colleagues who did not have to create them. We were then introduced to the various tools in Twitter that can be used to manage the account effectively and some of the common terminologies, such as a tweet, retweet, and other techniques such as mentioning other account users in tweets; and the use of hash (#)  tags were introduced to participants. Most of us, managed to post our first tweets by the end of the day, using the techniques we had learnt on
the day.

On Tuesday, 16th April, 2013, we continued with Twitter, and learnt how to do other things such as linking twitter accounts to other information on the internet, including html and pdf files. I realized fro these experiences that twitter was such a useful tool in social networking, and immediately recalled its use in popular mobilization during the Arab spring in Tunisia, Egypt and Lybia. Later in the day, we started working on Blogger, and surely, all participants agree that the application is phenominal. I must confess that I already had a Twitter and Blogger account , but was not active in using them until this workshop. We created new blogs, and were introduced to some features of the Blogger application that could help us better manage and present the accounts. We also learnt how to link the Twitter and Blogger accounts, so that visiters of out blogs could also see what we were tweeting.

On Wednesday, 17th April, 2013, we continued with Blogger, and begun another social networking tool. But earlier in the session, were were given oppportunities to make another post on our newly created blogs, and this is what you are reading.

Thank you for reading through, and I believe that your have been inspired to participate in these kinds of workshops, especially those that are intended to enhance your productivity at work, and contributing positively to our generation and the generation yet to come.

Insight for Today

People Relationship
There is a role assigned to everyone who comes into our lives. Some people come to support us, others come to suppress us; some will come to give hope, anothers will come to discourage us. But none of them is an enermy. They are all intended to make us who we were mearnt to be. Though, we sometimes expect some people to play certain roles in our lives, they may not be the right ones to; and we must let them be. When their assigned roles in our lives are exhausted, they will expire (leave) to create room for others to come impart us. Don't cling unto anyone to stay. They will stay if they were mearnt to stay.

Life and Struggling
In the war of life, we cannot win every battle, therefore one strategy is to scan our environments, and identify those battles we can win, and then work at winning them, whiles working to reduce the impact of those we are going to lose.

Mandate of the Christ
The human being, by natural instinct, strives for emancipation; be it political, economic, or social. But the Lord takes this strife a step further to spiritual emancipation. This was his mandate on earth.

My Prayer of Appreciation
Father, I thank you so much. I appreciate the times in which I find myself now. The times and events help me to understand you better, and understanding you makes me love you more. I pray that I live to fulfill your assigned purpose here on earth.....and may you bless everyone who has imparted my life in one way or another, even the person reading this. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Purposive Living
What is the life of man than to be born, cause an impact (positive or negative) on the cosmic system, and die afterwards. this impact, though minute in cosmic scale, is so significant that until it is made, you shall never pass away, and is the reason why you are so special in this system of existence. brothers and sisters, don't be lazy, get up and do what you were meant for,cos it is necessary. but be guided by the spirit cos, unlike other constituents of this grand system there is a hereafter for MAN.
